7.4.2 100% renewable energy pledge

SWU demonstrates its commitment to sustainable energy and emission reduction through various initiatives, aligning with its "SWU Zero Carbon" vision. While a full 100% renewable energy pledge represents an ambitious long-term goal, the university has already implemented tangible steps towards this objective.

A key step is the installation of a 98 kilowatt-hour (kWh) solar panel system at the Central Library. This system actively reduces reliance on fossil fuels, fostering clean energy adoption and contributing to greenhouse gas emission reduction in line with Sustainable Development Goals 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy) and 13 (Climate Action) (Source: https://lib.swu.ac.th/sdgs/สำนักหอสมุดกลางติดตั้ง/ ). This direct investment in solar power underscores SWU's dedication to incorporating renewable sources into its energy mix.

Furthermore, SWU is promoting sustainable transportation infrastructure by inaugurating an electric vehicle (EV) charging station at its Prasanmit Campus. Presided over by Associate Professor Dr. Cholvit Jearajit, President of Srinakharinwirot University, this initiative supports the broader shift towards electric mobility. By providing incentives and infrastructure for EV use, the university indirectly reduces emissions associated with transportation to and from its campuses, contributing to a cleaner energy ecosystem. These actions highlight SWU's proactive approach to adopting renewable energy technologies and fostering a sustainable campus environment, laying the groundwork for a potential future 100% renewable energy pledge.
