8.2.4 Employment policy modern slavery
SWU is a leading academic and professional institution, serving as a learning hub for society. The university is committed to developing individuals with both quality and morality, conducting research and innovation that provide sustainable benefits to society, delivering high-quality academic services, upholding social responsibility, preserving arts and culture, and ensuring good governance in all operations.
The university recognizes that sustainable growth and ethical development depend on respect for human rights, equality, and fair treatment of all individuals. To uphold these values, SWU enforces an employment policy that explicitly prohibits all forms of modern slavery, forced labor, human trafficking, and child labor across all university operations and affiliated entities.
The university ensures that all staff, faculty members, and outsourced workers are treated fairly and with dignity, under lawful and ethical employment standards. No person shall be subjected to work or service under threat, coercion, or unfair conditions.
Key Policy Commitments
Zero Tolerance for Modern Slavery
SWU strictly forbids all forms of forced labor, human trafficking, bonded labor, servitude, or exploitation within its institution or supply chains.
Fair and Ethical Employment
The university ensures that all employment practices — including recruitment, compensation, training, and promotion — are carried out ethically and lawfully, providing decent working conditions and fair wages.
Protection of Vulnerable Groups
All employees and outsourced workers are protected from discrimination and exploitation, regardless of race, gender, nationality, age, religion, disability, or socioeconomic background.
Transparency in Outsourcing and Procurement
SWU requires that all contractors and outsourced service providers comply with fair labor standards and do not engage in exploitative or coercive labor practices.
Monitoring and Continuous Improvement
The university periodically reviews employment practices to ensure compliance with national labor laws, international human rights principles, and its internal Code of Ethics.
Safe and Respectful Work Environment
SWU fosters a culture of respect, inclusivity, and equality, preventing any form of harassment, abuse, or workplace violence.
