7.4.4 Policy development for clean energy technology

SWU actively engages in policy development to foster the adoption and advancement of clean energy technologies, aligning with its extensive sustainability commitments, particularly the "SWU Zero Carbon" initiative. This includes strategies to reduce reliance on fossil fuels and promote renewable energy sources and sustainable practices.

A practical example of this policy in action is SWU's commitment to promoting sustainable transportation infrastructure by inaugurating an electric vehicle (EV) charging station at its Prasanmit Campus. Presided over by Associate Professor Dr. Cholvit Jearajit, President of Srinakharinwirot University, this initiative directly supports the broader shift towards electric mobility. By providing incentives and infrastructure for EV use, the university indirectly reduces emissions associated with transportation to and from its campuses, thereby contributing to a cleaner energy ecosystem. Furthermore, the university's overall targets, such as the annual 5% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions and support for alternative energy (e.g., solar cells), reflect a broader institutional policy framework that encourages the development and integration of clean energy technologies across campus operations and research. This holistic approach signals SWU's dedication to implementing and supporting policies that champion clean energy for a sustainable future.
