7.4.3 Energy efficiency services for industry

Biomass Fuel and Biomass Energy Technology Research Unit

This research unit focuses on studying technologies for converting biomass into various fuel types, including:

  • Wood pellets

  • Torrefied biomass pellets

  • Charcoal briquettes

  • Liquid biomass fuel (bio-oil)

  • Synthesis gas

The unit also engages in studying and developing appropriate technologies for utilizing the synthesized fuels derived from biomass for heat and power generation in both community and industrial settings. Furthermore, it conducts analysis of pollutants generated from the biomass conversion processes and the subsequent utilization of biomass and biomass-synthesized fuels.

Activities:

  • A 600-liter community kiln for producing biochar and wood vinegar.

  • Gasoline production from fresh palm fruit by Assistant Professor Dr. Sommas Kaewluan and his team.

  • Gasifier stoves / Biomass stoves.
