7.3.1 Energy usage per sqm
To assess the university’s energy efficiency, the total electricity consumption from Ongkharak Campus (29.3 million units) and Prasarnmit Campus (20.4 million units) amounts to 49.7 million units of electricity, equivalent to approximately 178,920 Gigajoules (GJ) of energy (conversion based on 1 unit = 1 kWh = 0.0036 GJ). With a total university floor area of 695,705.03 sqm, the average energy usage equates to 71.44 units/sqm or approximately 0.257 GJ per sqm.
This indicator provides an essential baseline for evaluating the university’s energy intensity and serves as a benchmark for future energy conservation and efficiency improvement initiatives. It also enables comparative analysis with peer institutions to measure performance and track progress in reducing energy consumption per square meter over time.
