Cooperate with local, regional, national, and global governments on water security

Public Communication Forum on the Research Project “Community Council Model for Communicating Community Rights and Water Resource Management in Suphanburi Province”

In 2024, Srinakharinwirot University cooperated with local, regional, national, and global stakeholders to strengthen water security through the research project “The Subdistrict Community Organization Council Model for Communicating Community Rights and Water Resource Management in Suphan Buri Province” The project, conducted in partnership with local government agencies, promoted participatory water governance, developed community information networks, and enhanced sustainable resource management.

Srinakharinwirot University collaborated with local government agencies to exchange knowledge, share lessons learned, and compile data for dissemination to target communities. The goal is to promote water security through cross-sectoral cooperation under the research project titled “Model Subdistrict Community Council for Communicating Community Rights and Water Resource Management in Suphanburi Province.”

The project aims to analyze data and identify key issues in promoting community rights communication related to water resource management, to strengthen participatory mechanisms within subdistrict community councils, and to develop a network of community information leaders capable of managing water resources effectively and sustainably.

On April 24, 2024, a Public Communication Forum was held to present the results of the project’s progress in driving model community councils for water resource management and to facilitate mutual learning among participants.

Attendees included presidents of six subdistrict community councils, representatives from Subdistrict Administrative Organizations, the District Chief Officer of Bang Pla Ma District, the President of the Suphanburi Provincial Community Council, Members of Parliament for Suphanburi Province (District 1), project advisors, and members of the Subcommittee on Monitoring, Recommendations, and Acceleration of National Reform.

The forum also compiled key takeaways for the communities, including the “Water is Life” Handbook, developed throughout the project as a resource for enhancing model water management areas, as well as subdistrict-level water maps and water resource management plans derived from community consultations reflecting local needs and perspectives.
