6.4.1 Water reuse policy
SWU has implemented a comprehensive water reuse and conservation policy aimed at optimizing water resources and reducing freshwater demand across the Ongkharak Campus. The campus benefits from a network of large lakes and interconnecting waterways that act as natural reservoirs for collecting and conserving water runoff, which is then reused for irrigating green spaces and vegetation throughout the campus.
To further enhance water efficiency, SWU has introduced a replacement program for water appliances, substituting outdated fixtures with water-efficient taps and flush systems. As of 2018, 1,590 out of 5,007 water appliances (equivalent to 31.76%) have been upgraded to efficient models. In addition, a low-cost water-saving initiative has been implemented by placing water bottles inside toilet flush tanks to reduce water consumption per use.
These combined measures reflect SWU’s commitment to sustainable water management through reuse, conservation, and the adoption of efficient technologies across all university facilities.
