6.3.5 Water-conscious planting
SWU has been planting more trees every year. For this tree planting initiative, the university has agricultural academics who determine the appropriate tree planting patterns and tree species, considering the climate, soil conditions, and water usage. Currently, SWU has more than 5,068 trees.
💧 Drought-Tolerant Plants (Low Water Use, Well Adapted to Hot Climates)

🌳 Plants Requiring Moderate to High Water (Not Highly Drought-Tolerant)

In addition, SWU has planted several drought-tolerant species across the campus to promote water-efficient and sustainable landscape management. Examples include Ta Bak (Lagerstroemia spp.), Bougainvillea, Golden Trumpet Tree (Tecoma stans), and Fukien Tea Tree (Carmona retusa).
