The Faculty of Science, Srinakharinwirot University, places great emphasis on safe and proper chemical management in laboratories. The Faculty has implemented chemical waste segregation under the ESPReL standard (Enhancement of Safety Practice of Research Laboratory). This initiative ensures that chemicals and hazardous waste is properly managed, minimizes risks to laboratory personnel, and prevents environmental damage that could arise from disposing chemicals into building sanitation systems.
This measure also strengthens the culture of laboratory safety, promotes systematic operations, and reassures students, staff, and stakeholders that scientific activities are carried out without compromising safety or environmental standards.
Moreover, chemical segregation and responsible hazardous waste management align with several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):
SDG 3 Good Health and Well-being: Reducing health risks from exposure to hazardous chemicals.
SDG 6 Clean Water and Sanitation: Preventing chemical contamination of water systems and the environment.
SDG 12 Responsible Consumption and Production: Ensuring responsible hazardous waste management.
The Faculty of Science remains committed to being a role model in safe and environmentally responsible chemical management, contributing not only to the university’s sustainability goals but also to broader societal and environmental well-being.
