Empowering Female Students through Mentoring and Counseling Support
Srinakharinwirot University (SWU) recognizes the importance of supporting the well-being, confidence, and personal development of its female students. To ensure that women at the university are empowered to thrive both academically and personally, the Division of Student Affairs has established the SWU SMILE Counseling Room—a dedicated, safe, and confidential space offering psychological counseling and mentoring services to students, particularly female students who may face emotional, academic, or gender-related challenges.
The SWU SMILE Center provides professional psychological counseling, mental health assessments, and mentoring programs led by trained psychologists and advisors. These services help female students manage stress, balance academic pressures, and develop effective coping skills, while promoting gender-sensitive mental health support within the campus community.
Furthermore, the university’s counseling and mentoring initiatives include female peer-support networks, online consultation channels, and workshops designed to strengthen emotional resilience and foster self-confidence among women in higher education.
In the academic year 2024, a total of 276 students received counseling services at SWU SMILE, of which 226 (approximately 82%) were female students. This indicates that a majority of service users are women, highlighting the crucial role of SWU SMILE in addressing the emotional and psychological needs of female students on campus. Importantly, the counseling room is staffed by female professional psychologists, enabling women to feel more comfortable and secure when discussing personal or sensitive issues.

This initiative not only enhances the mental well-being and resilience of female students but also contributes to empowerment and gender equality within the university community. By providing dedicated female-focused mentoring and counseling services, SWU ensures that women can thrive academically and personally with the same confidence, opportunity, and quality of life as their male peers.
