2.3.5 Staff hunger interventions
Srinakharinwirot University (SWU) implements Staff Hunger Intervention initiatives as part of its internal welfare programme to enhance quality of life and reduce disparities in food access among employees. These interventions are embedded within institutional festive events such as the New Year celebration and the traditional Songkran Festival, where food and beverages are provided to employees across all categories — including academic staff, administrative staff, contract and outsourced personnel who are considered more income-vulnerable — ensuring equitable access to nutritious meals and reducing food cost burden during major annual periods. This community-sharing approach also strengthens organisational belonging, connection, and positive social and mental well-being among staff, which indirectly contributes to improved food security and inclusive welfare outcomes. These annual events are delivered across both SWU Prasarnmit Campus (Bangkok) and SWU Ongkharak Campus (Nakhon Nayok), covering a workforce of approximately 6,000 personnel and ensuring that food support under the Staff Hunger Intervention programme reaches all staff groups consistently.
