15.2.1 Events about sustainable use of land

Srinakharinwirot University, through Bodhivijjalaya College, organised activities related to the sustainable use of land. The College staff implemented initiatives to transform unused space within the campus into productive agricultural areas, using organic waste to produce compost fertiliser. This approach reduces open burning, decreases air pollution, enhances soil biodiversity through beneficial microorganisms, increases green areas on campus, and supports organic vegetable production for sustainable household food crops.

In addition, an integrated teaching and learning activity under the Organic Agriculture course was conducted, where 21 students cultivated organic rice fields during the 2024 academic year. Students produced organic sticky rice through precise organic farming practices to promote sustainable land management. Organic fertiliser derived from water hyacinth was used to support plant growth, alongside planting legumes to improve soil fertility and increase organic matter. These activities contributed to restoring soil quality, supporting ecosystem regeneration, and promoting long-term sustainable agricultural land use within the campus.
