14.3.2 Food from aquatic ecosystems (policies)

Srinakharinwirot University has formal food sanitation and safety requirements for all food and beverage vendors operating on campus, including those selling food products sourced from aquatic ecosystems such as fish and other seafood. The policy specifies hygiene and safety standards for food preparation, handling and storage, including the separation and cleaning of raw and cooked ingredients, the use of government-certified food additives and products (e.g. those bearing FDA and industrial standards marks), and strict control of cross-contamination, waste disposal and personal hygiene of food handlers. These requirements ensure that aquatic food products consumed on campus are handled in a safe and controlled manner and comply with national food safety regulations. However, while the canteen policy provides a strong framework for safe and responsible food provision, the University does not yet have a specific procurement policy that explicitly mandates sustainable or ecosystem-conscious sourcing of aquatic food products beyond these food safety and legal compliance standards.
