12.3.2 Proportion of waste recycled
Srinakharinwirot University tracks total waste generation and recycling volumes. Based on institutional waste data, the total waste generated was 2,191.763 tons, of which 13.198 tons was recycled waste. This represents approximately 0.60% of total waste being recycled. The remaining waste consists of general waste (1,936.3972 tons), hazardous/chemical waste (152.768 tons), agricultural waste (77.872 tons), and food waste (11.529 tons). This data demonstrates that SWU measures waste composition by category and monitors the proportion of waste being recycled as part of its waste reduction and circular resource management efforts.

This chart presents SWU’s total waste composition and volume, indicating that 2,191.763 tons of waste were generated, of which 13.198 tons were recycled. This data is used to calculate the proportion of waste recycled and track annual improvements in circular waste management.

SWU’s Physical Development Division conducts hands-on waste separation learning activities for students, demonstrating correct sorting of materials and the difference between recyclable, compostable, hazardous and general waste. These outreach and education sessions strengthen awareness and behavioural change for sustainable waste management among young learners and campus stakeholders.
