12.3.1 Waste tracking
Srinakharinwirot University operates a structured waste-tracking system that monitors the flow of waste from generation to final disposal. Waste is first separated at source into different bins in each building, with housekeepers further sorting recyclable materials (plastic bottles and lids, plastic food packaging, glass bottles and cups, paper/boxes, clean plastic bags, cans and aluminium). Recyclable waste is recorded and collected by the Sustainability Development Division in coordination with the WasteBuy Delivery service, while non-recyclable general waste is collected at 21 designated points across the campus. University staff are responsible for moving this general waste into the municipal system, where it is transported daily to the Sai Mun Subdistrict Administrative Organization’s landfill for proper disposal. This end-to-end process map demonstrates that SWU tracks waste streams by type and stage—source separation, recycling collection, transport, and final disposal—as part of its waste management and monitoring system.

This photo series shows the Physical Development Division team conducting on-site waste separation and recording waste quantities generated during University activities. Waste is segregated into different material streams (paper, plastic bottles, food packaging, glass, metal, food waste, and mixed waste) and measured by weight per day. For this event, a total of 222.91 kg of waste was tracked over three days, demonstrating SWU’s practical implementation of monitored waste separation and measurable waste data collection to support campus waste reduction and circular resource management.
