12.2.8 Minimisation policies extended to suppliers

Srinakharinwirot University extends its commitment to responsible consumption and production beyond internal operations by embedding environmental requirements into contracts with outsourced service providers. Terms of reference for external cleaning and landscape maintenance services mandate the use of environmentally friendly or eco-labelled products, as well as systematic waste segregation and weighing of waste generated on campus. These expectations are reinforced by university-wide measures to reduce general waste by 10% per year, promote recycling and reuse through waste banks, and build awareness among students, staff and on-campus businesses. In this way, the University ensures that its partners and contractors actively contribute to reducing waste and environmental impact in line with its sustainability goals.


Policy on Responsible Consumption and Production

  1. The University requires that terms of reference (TOR) for external service contractors, such as cleaning services and landscape maintenance services, include the use of environmentally friendly products or eco-labelled products, such as green cleaning agents.

  2. The University requires that contractors providing cleaning services and landscape maintenance services separate waste and weigh the waste generated within the University premises.

  3. The University promotes waste separation within the campus and implements waste management measures to reduce the volume of all types of waste.

  4. The University shall provide education and raise awareness on waste separation among students and staff, and shall foster a sense of responsibility regarding waste segregation among students, personnel, academic staff and business operators within the University.

  5. The University shall reduce general (non-recyclable) waste within the campus by decreasing the quantity of such waste by 10% each year.

  6. The University encourages the establishment of recycling “waste banks” within the campus and promotes waste reduction through reuse processes within the University.

This policy shall take effect from the date of its announcement.
