12.2.5 Policy for minimisation of plastic use

Srinakharinwirot University promotes a campus-wide transition away from single-use plastics through its formal policy on reducing plastic bags and prohibiting foam food containers. The policy sets clear requirements for on-campus vendors to phase out plastic bags, foam packaging, plastic cups, plastic cutlery and straws, and to replace them with reusable, paper-based or biodegradable alternatives. Shops are encouraged to use incentive measures such as discounts, to actively communicate with customers about refusing plastic, and to support the use of personal lunch boxes and refillable bottles. By embedding these expectations into everyday food and beverage services, the University fosters behavioural change among students, staff and visitors and significantly reduces plastic waste generated on campus.
