11.4.5 Affordable housing for students

Srinakharinwirot University (SWU) Ongkharak campus first opened in 1996, initiating student dormitory construction with two buildings (one for female and one for male students). Over the years, the university has continuously expanded its affordable student housing, adding buildings 3-4 in 2001 and buildings 5-10 in 2003. A policy was implemented from 2004-2005 requiring all first-year students to reside in university dormitories, demonstrating a commitment to providing widespread student accommodation. Building 11 was added in 2011, and plans for buildings 12-16 are in place for 2025, further expanding capacity. The university also streamlined services, introducing an online room booking system in 2010 and online electricity/daily dormitory payment systems in 2022, enhancing access and convenience for students. This continuous development underscores SWU's commitment to providing affordable and accessible housing for its students.
