11.2.5 Arts and heritage contribution
Srinakharinwirot University has supported music, theatre, and dance not only as academic disciplines but also as public expressions of creativity that connect the institution to society. The university plays a central role in preserving and promoting the arts through annual public performances by choirs, theatre groups, orchestras, and student-led ensembles. These performances are not only part of university life but are open to the wider community, ensuring that art remains accessible, relevant, and sustainable.
In the 2024 academic year, our university organised over 30 performances, including regular concert series, drama productions, regional folk performances and ad-hoc collaborations with local cultural organisations. Many of these are organised in partnership with government ministries, local cultural foundations, and international cultural institutes, underscoring the university’s role as a trusted custodian of heritage and a promoter of global cultural dialogue.
Examples of university departments and related activities include:
The Cultural Heritage Conservation Club aims to preserve arts and culture, as well as to manage ceremonies, traditions, and other cultural activities within the university. These include events such as the New Student Orientation Program and the Student Identity Development Camp. In addition, the club provides opportunities to learn about various aspects of life, history, art, traditions, and cultures.

The Institute of Culture and Arts, Srinakharinwirot University, was established on March 31, 2000. Its mission is to promote participation through cultural and artistic activities in order to help the university achieve its goals and to provide space for the preservation, continuation, and creation of culture and art. Furthermore, the institute is committed to education, research, dissemination of knowledge, and academic services in the fields of culture and arts. Lastly, it aims to develop organizational and personnel potential, as well as to manage the institute based on the principles of good governance to ensure sustainable growth.
The Thai Music Club of Srinakharinwirot University (SWU) is a student organization for those interested in preserving traditional Thai music. It is one of the university’s cultural clubs dedicated to continuing and promoting Thai musical heritage and ensuring its lasting presence. 
The Northeastern (Isan) Arts and Culture Club of Srinakharinwirot University (SWU) is a university club dedicated to promoting and preserving the arts and cultural heritage of Thailand’s Northeastern region (Isan). The club’s activities focus on maintaining traditional customs, arts, and cultural knowledge, including music, performances, and traditional folk plays.

SWU BAND is the music and performance club of Srinakharinwirot University (SWU). It brings together students with musical talent to participate in various university events and performances. The band is well-known for its “Grand Opening Concert” and its distinctive performances that blend classical and pop music styles.

The Srinakharinwirot University Prasarnmit Demonstration School (Elementary Division), together with the Parents and Teachers Association of the school, in collaboration with the Department of Cultural Promotion, Ministry of Culture, organized the Children’s Khon Performance of the Ramayana Episode “Jong Thanon”, accompanied by a contemporary music performance titled “Duang Duean Banleng: Songs from the Moon,” a traditional opening dance “Rabam Asuraphong,” and an adapted theatrical play “Sueb San Ngan Wat.”
The performances were held at the Main Auditorium of the Thailand Cultural Centre. Associate Professor Dr. Cholvit Chiarajit, Acting President of Srinakharinwirot University, presided over the opening ceremony, joined by Assistant Professor Somkiat Wannachaloem, Director of the Prasarnmit Demonstration School (Elementary Division); Mongkolthip Rungngamrerk, Director of the Institute of Cultural Studies, Department of Cultural Promotion; and Kittipot Buranaboonwong, President of the Parents and Teachers Association, along with the association’s committee members.
This annual Children’s Khon Performance has been organized for 43 consecutive years and took place on January 25–26, 2025, jointly hosted by the Department of Cultural Promotion, the Demonstration School, and its Parents and Teachers Association.
