1.4.4 Policy addressing poverty
In 2024, Srinakharinwirot University (SWU) actively participated in policy-making at the local, regional, and national levels to support programmes and policies aimed at ending poverty in all its dimensions.
SWU launched the project “Building Networks and Mechanisms to Enhance Employment Promotion for the Elderly in Thai Society,” in collaboration with the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT) and local administrative organizations in Phuket, Khon Kaen, Chiang Mai, and Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya.
The project promotes community enterprise participation in income-generating activities to alleviate poverty, focusing particularly on career development and income enhancement for local residents. In addition, it emphasizes knowledge and social network transfer to empower communities to apply and expand innovations sustainably.
This initiative serves as a strategic model for leveraging technology and research to address social challenges, representing a key component of SWU’s long-term mission to reduce poverty and promote sustainable livelihoods.
