1.3.3 Low-income student support

Srinakharinwirot University (SWU) provides comprehensive support to students from low-income families to enable them to complete their studies without financial hardship. Support includes free and subsidised assistance covering tuition fees, housing, food, transportation, and essential student services.

To reduce living costs, SWU offers a range of free and subsidised internal scholarships, benefitting 2,564 students in 2024. Of these, 589 students received scholarships provided by the Division of Student Affairs, while 1,975 students received faculty/college-allocated scholarships. These schemes assist with accommodation costs, meal allowances, emergency financial support, academic needs, and wellbeing services.

In addition, 1,007 students received external scholarships supported by government agencies, private organisations, and charitable foundations. This includes 163 students supported through the Student Affairs Division and 844 students through faculties/colleges.

The Student Loan Fund (SLF) provides further financial assistance to low-income students to cover tuition and essential living costs. In Academic Year 2024, 6,312 students received loans in Semester 1 and 6,116 students in Semester 2, totalling 273,357,500 Baht in financial support:

Type 1: Financial Need – 124,052,500 Baht

Type 2: In-Demand Fields – 132,380,000 Baht

Type 3: Shortage Fields Supported by the Fund – 16,925,000 Baht

These initiatives demonstrate SWU’s strong commitment to supporting low-income students to access, continue, and complete their university education.
