Srinakharinwirot University is strongly committed to educational equity. In the 2024 academic year, a total of 15,999 low-income or financially disadvantaged students received financial aid through scholarships and student loan schemes.
Overall number
This total covers students supported through:
Internal scholarships (central Division of Student Affairs and 20 faculties/colleges/the Graduate School)
External scholarships (from external organisations and donors, coordinated by the University)
The Student Loan Fund (SLF) for tuition fees and living expenses, with a large share targeted at low-income students (Category 1).

In Academic Year 2567, the SLF provided major financial support for low-income students:
Of this, 124,052,500 THB (45.4%) was allocated to Category 1 – low-income students, with the remainder supporting students in nationally prioritised and shortage fields.
Taken together, these scholarship and loan schemes ensure that 15,999 low-income or financially challenged students are able to access and continue their studies at SWU, reflecting the University’s strong commitment to social inclusion, SDG 1 (No Poverty) and SDG 4 (Quality Education).
Financial Aid Support for Low-Income Students
Srinakharinwirot University (SWU) places strong emphasis on supporting students from low-income or financially disadvantaged families to ensure that every student can pursue higher education and enjoy a good quality of life throughout their studies. The university recognizes that equitable access to education is essential to reducing inequality and promoting social mobility in alignment with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 1.2.1—low-income students receiving financial aid.
In the 2024 academic year, the Division of Student Affairs at SWU implemented a range of financial aid programs to assist students facing financial hardship or those in need of urgent financial support. These initiatives aim to relieve economic pressure, prevent students from discontinuing their studies due to financial constraints, and foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
The university provides multiple forms of financial assistance, including university scholarships for students experiencing financial difficulties, emergency grants for students facing sudden or unforeseen financial crises, scholarships funded by faculties, colleges, and the Graduate School, and external scholarships from government agencies, private organizations, and charitable foundations. These various funding sources reflect the university’s commitment to financial equity and educational opportunity, ensuring that no student is left behind due to economic barriers.
Through these initiatives, SWU ensures that students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds can continue their studies without interruption, maintain their academic performance, and participate fully in university life. This directly contributes to reducing inequality (SDG 10) and ending poverty in all its forms (SDG 1) by providing sustainable access to higher education for all.

In the first semester of the 2024 academic year, a total of 6,312 students at Srinakharinwirot University (SWU) received financial assistance through the Student Loan Fund (SLF), which provides essential financial aid to students from low-income or financially disadvantaged backgrounds.

Continuing borrowers: 4,200 students
However, the financial aid provided through the SLF enables students to cover tuition fees and essential living expenses, ensuring that economic hardship does not hinder their access to higher education.
