SI 7.3 Support for Health Promotion Research

Srinakharinwirot University (SWU) provides strong institutional support for health promotion research through formal policies, funding mechanisms, external collaboration opportunities, capacity-building programs, and additional forms of research facilitation. The University’s commitment ensures that health promotion research is systematically encouraged, financially supported, and sustained across faculties and research units.

1. Policy to Promote Health Promotion Research

The University has formal policies and guidelines that promote research aligned with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including health promotion.
A key policy includes:

  • University Announcement on Publication Awards for Research Published in International Journals Listed under SDGs, effective 1 January 2026 onwards, which explicitly incentivizes faculty members to conduct and publish SDG-related research, including health promotion research.

These mechanisms ensure that researchers have access to financial resources for conducting health promotion research, producing publications, and advancing innovation that contributes to public health outcomes.

3. External Funding Support

Researchers at SWU are encouraged and supported to apply for external competitive funding from government agencies, foundations, NGOs, and the private sector.
The University provides clear application pathways and guidance through its external funding portal:

This external funding support enables researchers to expand the scale and impact of health promotion research through multi-sector partnerships and national funding mechanisms.

4. Regular Training for Health Promotion Research

SWU provides continuous capacity-building programs to strengthen research skills specifically relevant to health promotion. Examples include:

  • Routine to Research (R2R) Training Workshops — enhancing skills to transform routine clinical or public health work into research.

  • Workshop on Medical Device Registration with the Thai FDA — supporting research involving health technologies, safety, and regulatory standards.

These training activities ensure that academic and professional staff possess updated research methodologies, health system knowledge, and analytical skills necessary for high-quality health promotion research.

5. Other Forms of Support

In addition to policies and funding, SWU provides several other supports that facilitate the advancement of health promotion research, such as:

  • Research information services (research rules, templates, guidelines, ethics protocols, and reporting systems).

  • Access to university laboratories, medical research centers, and specialized equipment that are essential for biomedical and health promotion studies.

  • University-led collaborations with hospitals, ministries, and communities, enabling real-world data collection and community-based intervention research.

  • Support for SDG alignment and research impact reporting, ensuring visibility and long-term integration of health promotion research into institutional strategies.

These supports collectively strengthen the ecosystem for health promotion research and ensure that faculty and students are fully equipped to conduct impactful and sustainable health-related studies.
