SI 1.1 Healthy University Policy Statement according to Healthy University Framework (HUF)

SWU demonstrates its strong institutional commitment to promoting a health-enabling environment through the implementation of SI 1.1 Healthy University Policy Statement under the Healthy University Framework (HUF). In accordance with the criterion, the university is required to establish health-related policies at the institutional level and ensure that these policies are systematically implemented across organisational units in alignment with the whole conceptual framework of HUF. The standard for the “>75% Implementation” level specifies that:
“Health policies are established at the university level, with active implementation of the whole conceptual framework of HUF in more than 75% of faculties/institutes/campuses.”

Aligned with this requirement, SWU has formally issued a Healthy University Policy and cascaded its implementation across faculties, institutes, and campuses. The university integrates the core components of the HUF—policy leadership, supportive systems and mechanisms, and structured health-promotion activities—resulting in active adoption in more than 75% of academic and administrative units. Evidence of this comprehensive implementation is presented in the sections that follow.

  1. Development of Physical Health and Mental Health of people in the target communities, ensuring that community members of all age groups are promoted and supported to achieve good physical and mental well-being, adopt desirable health behaviors, and experience reduced health disparities.

  2. Development of Intellectual Well-being (knowledge, capability to act, capability to live, and freedom) of people in the target communities, so that they possess comprehensive literacy in holistic well-being, have life skills and engage in lifelong learning, thereby enhancing their happiness and overall quality of life.

  3. Development of Social Well-being (social, economic, and environmental dimensions) of people in the target communities, so that these communities become strengthened, develop holistic well-being networks and an enabling environment for good health and well-being, uplift the grassroots economy through community-based development, receive support in developing tourism products and services based on community assets, and enhance the country’s competitiveness.

  4. Development of Systems and Mechanisms for Managing the University’s Social Engagement Mission, emphasizing integration from the policy level down to operational mechanisms. This aims to improve the quality of services and support related to social engagement in an efficient manner by developing systems and mechanisms that connect different units and diverse forms of academic services for society, with the goal of providing high-quality services under an integrated management approach covering policy, programmes, personnel, and implementation.
